Craft Room

Home made craft storage boxes

I'm way to cheap to buy photo storage boxes when you get boxes for FREE with shoes.  This is a wall in my craft room - two side by side wall shelves hold shoe boxes full of craft items both within easy reach and out of the way (and away from small fingers who don't know the difference between kid stickers, and mom's stickers.)

On the bottom right side of the shelf - there is a box that has been primed but does not have contact paper on it yet.  - I"ll get to it...........

The file holder on the bottom left is a garage sale find - it was black plastic (I saw this in office depot the other day for around $30.00) I got it for 25 cents, then spray painted it with some plastic friendly spray paint.  (my first experience with this paint - and I am VERY impressed.)

To make these boxes I first pulled any stickers off of the boxes, I then primed them with regular wall primer left over from my kitchen project.  (this was because the bright colors of the boxes did show through the contact paper.) then it was the simple matter of applying contact paper in colors that went nicely in my room.  All done!  I have 23 pretty storage boxes on this wall and on another wall in the same room.
Retail cost for 23 photo boxes, even on sale at $2.00 each would have been $46.00 + tax.  My cost - boxes, free, primer, free (since it was left over from my kitchen project) - two rolls of contact paper - $5.00 each, with lots left over for other projects - that's a huge savings and I now have something that I really wanted that I would not otherwise have.  Do note that I also painted a couple of boxes - just to shake it up a bit!

Christmas Dinner in a Winter Wonderland

This is my craft room (which is actually the official dining room in my home.)  This room has been changed from dining room to craft room, and for Christmas dinner, turned into a dining room once more.
